Tarpon Fly Fishing by Will Wagner
This is my interpretation of a tarpon. I tried to just go for it while painting this piece. My usual method of completing a piece is to constantly overthink everything.
The reason I choose the different species of fish is because they are all what I consider “Milestones Fish” in fly fishing. The Tarpon is the hardest to land. The permit is almost impossible to get a reaction from. And the brown trout is a classic large fresh water fish. Unfortunately I have only caught a brown trout but I hope to eventually catch the other fish.
I started fly fishing when I was around 15. The reason I enjoy fly fishing is relaxation. Being on a river by yourself in almost absolute silence is like no other feeling. Although two of the fish I painted (Tarpon and Permit) are saltwater fish. Saltwater fly fishing is a little more fast-paced, but still just as enjoyable.
