These are designed to be non-judgmental spaces to share your work and gain inspiration.

No matter who you are, or how much experience you have, you can sign up and share something.

Anyone can be a poet.

Be sure to add info@youthbeheard.org to your safe-sender list or address book to receive the zoom link to attend. Our emails often go to spam or the Gmail promotions tab. We don’t want to miss you at the event!

Note that while we encourage the expression of real life, we discourage the use of profanity and obscenities. Poems should not exceed a PG-13 rating.

Ages 22+ are welcome to attend as supportive audience members.

Even if you don’t have a poem to share, we hope you’ll join us for an evening of spoken word awesomeness.

Check out what poets had to say about our last event (all responses were anonymous):

  • “I wrote two poems directly after because I gained inspiration during the event.”
  • “I have had a lot of feelings about the current state of the world that I have struggled to convey in words, but hearing everyone else was incredibly motivating and inspiring and showed me that it was possible.”
  • “It encouraged me by exposing me to other writers with the same writing style as me, and it showed me how far I can go if I really try.”
  • “Because of the low-stress-ness, I now know that even if my writing does get out, it really won’t be that bad. And maybe my writing is better than I thought?”
  • “It made me love poetry more!”

“It’s a public forum for people to get together and have the conversations that we so often don’t get to have in our everyday lives. It’s a platform to say something that means something to you…”

-Kyle “Guante” Tran Myhre, Minneapolis, MN
