Youth Advisory Board

Youth Be Heard is taking applications for the Youth Advisory Board.

This volunteer position will play a pivotal role in guiding the culture and direction of Youth Be Heard. You will also serve as ambassadors for Youth Be Heard by sharing your voice and encouraging others to do the same. This will serve as excellent experience in understanding web-based writing platforms, non-profit strategy, and advisory boards.

How it works:

You will meet every other month with the executive director and the full youth advisory board virtually. Youth Advisory Board members will have a two-way mentorship experience where you will help guide the direction of the organization by sharing your advice and opinions. You will also have the opportunity to share your personal aspirations and we will do what we can to help you actualize them.

We often have opportunities for Youth Advisory Board Members to sit on youth panels at academic conferences and take part in projects representing YBH.

Qualifications:

• You are between the ages of 16 and 24
• You have published on youthbeheard.org
• You are able to commit to meeting every other month (meetings are virtual)
• You enjoy writing and/or art
• You are able to create one piece of content per month for publication through:
  • writing a post (about your thoughts, experiences, or opinion)
  • creating art through photography, word art, doodles, drawings, painting
  • interviewing another teen or adult and writing it up as an article
