Flowing Fins of Fascination

I used to have a Betta fish named Sheldon that disappeared one day. I was fascinated by his beautiful yet violent fins that seemed to flow in every direction. Thinking of him, I decided to draw a Betta fish in a gradient of my favorite colors.

I was inspired by the beautiful, flowy, peaceful fins of the Koi fish and chose to draw my take on this species of carp. I researched some beautiful and meaningful Japanese symbols to place around the Koi fish. The kanji in the upper-right corner means “carp” but is pronounced “koi,” and is what gives the Koi fish its name.
