Privacy Policy of Youth Be Heard
Youth Be Heard (YBH) is committed to protecting its visitors’ and users’ privacy. This policy outlines the handling of personal information about YBH’s visitors and users who submit to the site http://youthbeheard.org.
Posting and Commenting on YBH
In order to post on YBH you must fill out the submission form on our website or send an email to submissions@youthbeheard.org. Let us know if you want the submission to be posted anonymously and your age. If you are under the age of 13, you may not submit to YBH. Please do not include any personally identifiable information other than your name and age. If you email YBH, a record of the email addresses and correspondence will continue to exist. We save information provided in the email, which may include your name, your age, and your email address, so that we can respond to you and have a record of that correspondence. However, to the extent that your email contains information that, taken as a whole, would constitute “personally identifiable information” under the Illinois Personal Information Protection Act (ILCS 530.1 and following), YBH may delete such information consistent with its intent not to store personally identifiable information.
If you are over the age of 13, you may comment on posted submissions by clicking on the comment button. Commenters should not include any information that makes them personally identifiable other than their name and age, if desired.
Kinds of Information
Personally identifiable information
We never share personally identifiable information with third parties, with one exception: YBH will disclose personally identifiable information when it is required to so under applicable law, such as pursuant to a subpoena or other judicial or administrative order.
Please be advised, that although we take technological precautions to protect your data, no data transmission over the Internet can be guaranteed to be 100% secure. Therefore, YBH can’t warrant that your information will be absolutely secure. Any transmission of data is at your own risk and YBH disclaims any liability that may result from such transmission.
Aggregate
information (non-personally identifiable information)
We may collect and provide aggregate information about our visitors and users to
our advertisers, sponsors, promotional partners and affiliates, such as how
many persons visited a particular page or activity, the average age of our
visitors and users on the site or page, or the likes and dislikes of our
visitors and users. We use log files, like most websites. This includes
internet protocol (IP) addresses, browser type, internet service provider
(ISP), referring/exit pages, platform type, date/time stamp, and number of
clicks to analyze trends, administer the site, track visitors’ and users’
movement in the aggregate, and gather broad demographic information for
aggregate use. This information isn’t linked to personally identifiable
information and does not include any personal information about any individual
visitor and user.

YBH may contain links to other sites. Please know that YBH is not responsible
for the privacy practices of other sites. We encourage our users to be aware
when they leave YBH and to read the privacy statements of any website that
collects personally identifiable information. This Privacy Policy applies
solely to information collected by YBH.
Changes
to our Privacy Policy
We may modify, alter, or update this Privacy Policy from time to time. We will
alert visitors and users to any material changes to this policy by posting the
revised information here. We encourage you to review our Privacy Policy on a
regular basis to stay informed about how we are protecting the personal
information we collect. Your submission of writing, comments, and/or your
continued use of YBH constitutes your agreement to this Privacy Policy and any
updates.
What
if YBH is sold or closes up shop?
In the event of a change in control resulting from, for example, a sale to, or merger
with, another entity, or in the event of a sale of assets or a bankruptcy, YBH
reserves the right to transfer your personal information to the new party in
control or the party assuming the assets. We will only do that if the party we
transfer the information to agrees that they will abide by our Privacy Policy
for as long as they hold the information and that they will not transfer the
information to any other party who will not abide by our Privacy Policy.
Children’s Privacy
For the purpose of children’s online privacy protection we do not accept posts
or comments from children under the age of 13. We never knowingly collect
personal information from persons under the age of 13. If we learn that we have
any information or content from anyone under the age of 13, we will delete that
information immediately.
Data Security Breach Notification
Following the requirements of state law, if YBH has discovered or noticed any unauthorized acquisition of computerized data that compromises the security, confidentiality, or integrity of any visitor’s or user’s personally identifiable information maintained by us, we will disclose the breaches to the visitor or user without unreasonable delay in accordance with applicable law. Such breaches do not include good faith acquisition of personal information by an employee or agent of YBH for a legitimate purpose of YBH.
