Art & Writing Contest!

Enter the Youth Be Heard Art and Poetry contest by September 15th to win up to a $100 prize and have your art featured and printed. Ages 13-21 allowed to enter. While there may only be a few “winners” we know youth talent is bursting at the seams. We plan to print several art and writing finalists on a range of products to be offered by Youth Be Heard with credit to each author and artist. Up to three entries per person allowed. Keep this in mind as you create… people may be wearing it on their shirt, carrying it on their bag, or reading it on the mug they’re drinking out of!

Open art submission– this can be any medium with any subject and range of colors (digital art included). This is the ultimate blank canvas. Best line art– Line art is defined as the act of creating an illustration using basic strokes of varying weights and angles that demonstrate form and depth. It does not include shading or gradient, and instead, focuses solely on lines. This can be a continuous line drawing or a single line drawing. Pablo Picasso and Henry Matisse are some of the famous artists that experimented with this simple technique. Take a google adventure if you haven’t heard of this technique before, just make the final submission your own work! Best short writing: This could be a few words (such as a six-word memoir) or it could be up to 1,000 characters (with spaces). It could be a poem or a quote. It could be clever, serious, or funny.

To submit

We need a high-quality photo of the work. If it’s a digital drawing, you can send a .png or .jpeg image and your word that this is your original work. Judged by Youth Be Heard Board of Directors and writing and art professionals Note: All entries have the option to be printed on a range of products that would be printed by Youth Be Heard and offered as a fundraiser. The images may be slightly altered in order to fit with the printing requirements and to align with the best aesthetic for a specific item. For example, the design may be converted resized or converted to greyscale. By participating in the Youth Be Heard 2020 Art Contest through submitting art or writing, you agree to allow Youth Be Heard to reprint the work on various materials for marketing or sale in an effort to fundraise for the non-profit organization. The artist still retains the copyright to reprint or share their own work and credit will be given through printing the author’s name and/or social media or website link with their work. Individuals may submit up to three works of art or writing.
