POETS, BE HEARD!
Image design by Charlotte Cheung, 18
Join us on April 16th @ 7 pm CST for our virtual open mic poetry night. This is a low-pressure, non-judgmental space to share your poetry and be inspired.
No matter who you are, or how much experience you have, you can sign up and share something. Anyone can be a poet.
Be sure to add info@youthbeheard.org to your safe-sender list or address book to receive the zoom link to attend. Our emails often go to spam or the Gmail promotions tab. We don’t want to miss you at the event!
Even if you don’t have a poem to share, we hope you’ll join us on April 16th at 7 pm for an evening of spoken word awesomeness.
Check out what participants said about last year’s poetry event (all responses were anonymous):
- “I wrote two poems directly after because I gained inspiration during the event.”
- “I have had a lot of feelings about the current state of the world that I have struggled to convey in words, but hearing everyone else was incredibly motivating and inspiring and showed me that it was possible.”
- “This poetry slam encouraged me to continue writing because quite frankly I haven’t written at all this summer. I actually had motivation which I am very grateful for.”
- “It encouraged me by exposing me to other writers with the same writing style as me, and it showed me how far I can go if I really try.”
- “Because of the low-stress-ness, I now know that even if my writing does get out, it really won’t be that bad. And maybe my writing is better than I thought?”
- “It made me love poetry more!”
