Falling

By Naya Dukkipati, 18, Texas

My mind wandered freely

and my feet followed

I didn’t focus on where to go

because I simply didn’t know

I was just looking for something new

The path emerged

and there I walked

Ran

and stumbled

Straight down the rabbit hole

My mistakes did not make me fall

They made me soar until I found new ground

I understood my strength, and I embraced my mistakes

I’m not falling

I’m diving right in

Down the rabbit hole I go…

I think navigating unfamiliar situations can be difficult and when you face an unexpected challenge, it is easy to feel like you’re failing. With this poem, I wanted to convey that making mistakes is okay and will actually be beneficial to your growth and success.
