Sea of People

By Carolyn Neugarten, 16, Connecticut

Medium: colored pencil

This artwork is about feeling lost and isolated. I used the phrase “a sea of people” to evoke the image of a continuous waves of faces, all alike from a certain distance. They are all depicted in pencil, not given any color other than gray, which adds to their anonymity. The face to the right side is filled with water, trying to process and understand the chaos circling around them.
